Furniture Arrangement and Layout

    Our Furniture Layout page is different from others you may have seen, and we think it's easier to use.  Our goal, with this free feature, is to help you create the best furniture arrangement for the rooms in your home. You can easily try many different configurations for placing furniture in your rooms by selecting objects of different sizes and shapes and dragging them onto a grid that's the size of your room. One square on the grid equals 1'.

    What you will need to get started:  the sizes of each piece of furniture you want to place in the room and your imagination! You can get started by following the few simple steps listed below:

    A TIP:  Scan the printed copy of your room layout into your computer and attach it to the design form, if you decide to use our design services.

    FORM:  On the form below, select the specific room and enter the Width and Length. Then click Submit.

    GRID and FURNITURE ITEMS:  After you click Submit, you will see the Furniture Arrangement Grid in the scaled size you have specified.


      1.  FURNITURE ITEM BOXES: On either side of the grid, you'll find objects in the shapes and sizes you'll need. You'll find the pieces for the horizontal position on the left side and the vertical ones on the right.

      2.  SELECT FURNITURE ITEM: CLICK on the item you want, it will appear in the upper left corner of the grid box.

      A TIP:  If there is not an item with your spcefic dimensions available, create it by using as many of the the available items by overlapping them on the grid.

      3.  POSITION FURNITURE ITEMS: Position your mouse over the item, hold down the left button and drag it onto the room grid where you want the object located. You can drag an object as many times as you want and try it in different positions within the room. Also, you can select most items multiple times.

      4.  REMOVE FURNITURE ITEM: To REMOVE an item on the grid, place mouse pointer over the item and double click the left button.

    GRID BUTTONS---These are located at the top left and top right of the layout grid page.


      HELP:   A window appears, and it explains how to select and place objects on the grid.

      PRINT:  When you complete your design, you may print the layout by clicking this button.

      RESTART:  You are returned to this page, and you can start a new layout for another
      room or redo your current room.

    To use the Furniture Layout, you should have: Internet Explorer 4.5 or higher,
    You should accept Cookies and have JavaScript enabled.


     FURNITURE LAYOUT ALTERNATIVE

      This alternative way to use the Furniture Layout feature can be used by those of you who have some special needs----curved or angled walls and angled furniture placement

    THE STEPS FOR USING THE ALTERNATIVE FURNITURE LAYOUT:
    • Select your room and its dimensions on the form below. If you have curved or angled walls, be sure the grid size is large enough to allow for these walls to be drawn inside the grid
    • After clicking the Submit button, print this grid without placing any furniture items on it
    • You can now draw your curved or angled walls on this blank grid
    • Hit the Restart button at the top of the grid page on the upper right hand corner
    • Create a second room grid on the form as before
    • After submitting, drag all of the furniture pieces from the left and right that you want to use onto the the room grid---leaving some space around each of them. If you need a item size other than the ones listed, combine pieces to get the size you need.
    • Print this second room grid
    • Cut out the furniture items and place them on the blank grid to arrange your layout

    Needless to say, not every furniture dimension can be placed on this site. However, you should be able to come fairly close to almost any size you need in order to create your furniture arrangement. You can use several different items to create the specific size you need by overlapping them when you place them on the grid.
